Sponsorship and Volunteer Opportunities
We need your help to bring smiles to children, families and soldiers!
Smiles for the Kids needs your support to ensure that we can fulfil the many requests we get for events. Below are specific requests/opportunities that you, your friends or organization can sponsor.
You don't need to be in Israel to sponsor, however if you or your friends will be here, we invite you to partake and volunteer at the event as well.
Please donate generously and list the name of the project you would like to donate to in the memo portion of the donation form.
Below is a list of opportunities that we are currently organizing and looking for sponsorship for
Yom Haatzmaut Event for Soldiers and their Families
Unit 8208 was hit badly during the war in Gaza, losing 14 soldiers in on day in January, in the deadliest day for the IDF in this war.
We are putting together a get-together on Yom Ha'Atzmaut for the soldiers of the unit and the families of the soldiers and the fallen. There are around 70 soldiers that will attend along with spouses and kids.
It will be a full, but low-key event to celebrate Independence Day but also be in the spirit of Memorial Day, as everyone is still in the process of mourning. but we know a get-together is very important and helpful to overcome the tragedy.
There will be breakfast, coffee and snacks, followed by carnival games, workshops, mosaics and it will culminate in a BBQ lunch.
Day of Fun for Evacuees in Gilboa
Shirley Shtivi and her family of 4 little kids and husband have been staying in the Gilboa area in the North of Israel in kibbutz עין חרוד איחוד. In the Kibbutz there is a designated area for evacuees from all over the North - Chanita, Dafna, Dan and some from Kfar Azza who have been displaced for 5 months with no time set for them to go home. There is a magician that the kids love and he was a soldier in Gaza for four months and lost a lot of business. They haven't had any entertainment or anything special there since the war started. There are around 100 families.
Shirley is a distant cousin of one of our organization members and Shirley is also related to one of the young female hostages who are still in Gaza. We didn't ask her directly about it because it's a sensitive subject but we do know they are very excited for us to bring a fun activity for their community of evacuees; there are many little kids there who are bored and scared.
Monthly Pizza Party for IDF Families and Evacuees
We have partnered with Bardak Pizza in Jerusalem to thank the IDF families (families with a parent currently serving) to host a monthly pizza party at their restaurant in Jerusalem. Each event will be for 100 new people who have a loved one serving in the war and they will get pizza, drinks, snacks and treats for the kids. It is a fun and easy way to show the families in Israel that you are thinking of them in this trying time, while helping the owner, an active soldier, keep his business afloat.
